Sonar ("we", "us") operates Sonar, a console that lets businesses send and manage WhatsApp messages to people who have opted in to hear from them. This notice explains what personal information we process and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and similar laws.
Solely to provide the messaging service each business asks us to run for it: sending their approved WhatsApp templates, recording delivery, managing their contacts and opt-outs, and keeping the platform secure. For contact data, the business that uses Sonar is the responsible party and we act as its operator (processor).
Messages are delivered through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta), which processes the recipient's number and message content to deliver them. We do not sell personal information or use it for our own marketing. We do not share contact data between businesses.
We keep data for as long as the business keeps its account. When a contact is deleted, we irreversibly anonymise their identifying details (the phone number is replaced with a one-way hash and the name removed) while retaining only de-identified message records for statistics. A business can request full deletion of its account and data at any time.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or object to its processing. Recipients can opt out of WhatsApp messages at any time by replying with a stop keyword (e.g. STOP), which we honour automatically. To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@whats-hub.co.za.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as salted hashes, access is restricted per business account, and the platform sits behind a web application firewall. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
